EXAMS CURRENTLY OFFERED (continued) |
OPTIONAL PRE-LICENSURE EXAMS ACUPUNCTURE: Addresses the use of acupuncture within a chiropractic setting. This elective examination assesses history and philosophy of acupuncture, organs, qi and fluid, channels and pathways, acupoints, acupuncture techniques, basic treatment and protocols and acupuncture safety and hygiene. PHYSIOTHERAPY: An elective single-subject examination that assesses physical therapy modalities, their indications and contraindications and applications, and therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. POST-LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS The NBCE has developed two examinations for re-assessing licensing eligibility in cases involving disciplinary action, reciprocity, and other state board needs. The Special Purposes Examination for Chiropractic addresses issues of clinical competency, while the NBCE Ethics and Boundaries Examination assesses the knowledge of ethics and boundaries issues, including ethical misconduct, sexual misconduct and sexual harassment. SPECIAL PURPOSES EXAMINATION FOR CHIROPRACTIC (SPEC): Designed for previously licensed chiropractors, SPEC is primarily used for reciprocity/endorsement. However, the exam is also used in cases where licenses have been revoked or suspended, or for any special circumstances requiring an objective assessment of clinical knowledge. This exam is not for initial licensing purposes and does not replace any NBCE pre-licensure examinations. NBCE ETHICS AND BOUNDARIES (NBCE E&B): Designed for previously licensed chiropractors, this exam gives states a tool to assess knowledge of ethics and boundaries issues as they apply to chiropractic practice. The test plan focuses on the importance of practicing chiropractic in an ethical and legally appropriate manner. |
