EXAM DEVELOPMENT |
Currently, examinations are administered at chiropractic college test sites in North America, Europe and Australia. Test materials are developed employing the services of numerous writers and consultants throughout the chiropractic profession. The test items are then presented for review and approval to committees comprised of chiropractic educators and practitioners, subject specialists, and members of chiropractic licensing agencies. Test questions concerning a doctor’s written and practical clinical competence are developed in collaboration with licensing/regulatory board members, chiropractic college faculty, private practitioners, statisticians and other professionals. Another key contribution to examination content development comes from a scientific survey of randomly selected full-time chiropractors within a regulatory jurisdiction called a job analysis. A valid job analysis survey report is a fundamental source of information on which professional competence examinations are based. The NBCE recently completed its third job analysis of the chiropractic profession in the United States. Previously, the NBCE conducted job analysis surveys and published reports for Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The IBCE will adapt these same exam development processes for use in other countries or regions appropriate for local requirements. |
